These days I build software that takes repetitive work off people's plates. Assistants that answer questions from a company's own documents. Systems that read, sort and route incoming requests. Integrations that let the tools a team already uses talk to each other. Before that I built web apps, Telegram bots and online stores. Away from work, I tinker with electronics.

  1. Jul 2020 – Jan 2022

    Full-stack Developer, CoffeeGo Ethiopia

    A small team and one product. I built it end to end, from the database to the screen, plus the Telegram bot that ran sales.

    • Built, deployed and maintained the company's web application, frontend and backend.
    • Built a Telegram bot for managing sales and discounts, with real-time inventory tracking and automatic notifications.

  2. Dec 2021 – May 2022

    Embedded Systems Developer, Prime Bridge Academy

    A hardware project for the academy: an interactive periodic table with 118 individually lit elements, built as a teaching aid for chemistry classes. With the client's permission, I later open-sourced it.

    • Designed and assembled an Arduino-based LED periodic table used as a teaching aid. Drew the PCB layouts and LED schematics (MAX7219 multiplexing, Bluetooth) and programmed lighting sequences for single elements, groups and demonstrations.

    I joined MMCY on the other side of the interview table, interviewing engineers and writing the exams they took.

    • Interviewed technical candidates across several specializations, wrote assessment exams and job descriptions, and screened and shortlisted applicants.

    Software Engineer, MMCY

    Then I moved into engineering at MMCY: internal tools, integrations, and increasingly, AI that helps people get their work done.

    • Built an IT helpdesk assistant that answers agents' questions from existing documentation, combining semantic and keyword search so answers stay grounded and tickets get resolved faster.
    • Researched voice grading for the recruitment team: a low-data system using Wav2Vec2 and forced alignment that scores pronunciation and accent against reference transcripts, with no fine-tuning.
    • Ran a two-month Salesforce integration training for a bank's development team, covering OAuth 2.0, Named Credentials, REST and Bulk API 2.0, the Pub/Sub API, Apex, error handling, logging and CI/CD.
    • Built web scraping and crawling tools that use OpenAI models to collect information on more than 1,300 companies for business planning.
    • Developed an enterprise helpdesk on Frappe with ticketing, SLA tracking and automatic escalation, plus a Microsoft Teams bot (built with n8n) that creates tickets from a conversation instead of a form.
    • Built and maintain ATS and HR systems that handle more than 300 hires a year, including secure data handling and compliance workflows.
    • Delivered a WooCommerce store with payment gateways, inventory automation and third-party APIs. Customized ERPNext modules and built REST integrations with Microsoft Teams and external CRMs.
    • Built and optimized Telegram bots, and pen-tested web applications, finding and fixing more than 15 vulnerabilities.

    Alongside MMCY, a freelance project for a healthcare clinic buried in email.

    • Built an email triage system with Python and Google APIs. It sorts incoming email by urgency and specialty and drafts replies, which cut the staff's manual email work by half.
